New owners are in place at the former Comfort Inn in Garibaldi. They have renamed the hotel Garibaldi House Inn & Suites and are making major improvements.

On Dec. 31, 2009, Eugene and Carol Tish of Wilsonville took over the ownership of the hotel.

Tish, an Oregon attorney, was previously the chief operating officer of a major Northwest petroleum distribution company, where he established a successful hospitality division.

After he retired last year, Tish and his wife established their own company, New Vision Hospitality, Inc., as a hotel operating company and began looking for unique hotel properties to acquire.

"We looked at a number of properties in the Northwest and in Arizona before settling on the property here in Garibaldi," he explained.

"We believe this facility has unique potential if operated properly and marketed effectively," he said.

Tish said he and his wife immediately began renovations. Over the coming months, he said, they will gradually replace furnishings and equipment throughout the hotel.

Wolcott said an open house will be scheduled soon to introduce the new look to locals.

"Our goal is to build our success based on service to our community, our employees and our guests," Tish added.

Garibaldi House Inn & Suites is at 502 Garibaldi Ave. (U.S. Highway 101) in Garibaldi. The telephone is (503) 322-3338. The Web site is www.garibaldihouseinn.com.
