In a move that brings upgraded surgical services to people living on the North Oregon Coast, Providence Seaside Hospital has opened a new surgical suite. An opening ceremony and blessing will be held at 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 3.

According to a press release, the new, state-of-the-art 10,500 sq. ft. surgical suite is designed for improved patient safety and comfort of care.

"The new surgical suite has a warm, comfortable atmosphere," said John Schwartz, interim chief executive of the North Coast Service Area. "Providence really wants to be able to offer patients state-of-the-art services close to home."

"Over the last few years, we have learned the patient’s perception of comfort is a huge component in their healing process," said Robert Gustafson, M.D., general surgeon at Providence Seaside Hospital. "When they are comfortable, they do better. With our new comfortable pre- and post-operative recovery area they are in a safer environment with improved monitoring."

Providence Seaside Hospital is located at 725 S. Wahanna Road in Seaside. For more information visit www.providence.org/northcoast.
