The Pelican Pub & Brewery wins awards

The Pelican Pub & Brewery has returned from the Thirteenth Annual North American Beer Awards with seven medals in seven different categories.  The Pelican’s award-winning beers include:

Gold: Tsunami Stout, Foreign Stout category

Gold: Stormwatcher’s Winterfest, English Barleywine category

Gold: Kiwanda Cream Ale, Kölsch category

Silver: MacPelican’s Wee Heavy Ale, Scotch Ale category

Silver: Surfer’s Summer Ale, Light Ales category

Silver: Surfer’s Summer Ale, English Summer Ale category

Bronze: MacPelican’s Scottish Style Ale, Scottish Light / Scottish Heavy / Scottish Export category

The North American Beer Awards were held June 2-5, 2009 in Idaho Falls, Ida., and awarded medals to the best beers from over 1,100 entries in 72 categories. The judges are professional brewers and certified beer judges who evaluate samples over four days in blind tastings. The North American Brewers Association, presenter of the North American Beer Awards, is a non-profit foundation with the mission of securing beer’s role in our culture and society through the advancement of brewing quality and consumer education.

The Pelican Pub and Brewery is located 22 miles south of Tillamook on the Oregon Coast.

The Pelican created Kiwanda Cream Ale, which was just named to Draft Magazine’s Top 25 Beers in the World of 2008.
