Lynda Gill was recently hired as general manager of the Best Western Lincoln Inn in Astoria. Gill started in her new position Sept. 28.

Gill, a veteran of the motel industry for 30 years, previously worked eight years for Moonstone Hotels and most recently served for two years as the first general manager of the Oregon Garden Resorts in Silverton, Ore., a Moonstone property that features an 80-acre botanical gardens. She also worked on the preparation for the resort’s opening.

"I was looking for a change and my husband and I visited Astoria and fell in love with the area," Gill said. Her husband, John, is employed with Moonstone.

As general manager of the Best Western Lincoln Inn, Gill oversees a 75-room facility complete with an indoor pool, sauna/hot tub, fitness center and small conference room and a staff of up to 20 employees.

A major renovation of half of the facility’s rooms, as well as the public areas, was recently completed, Gill said. Work on the remaining guest rooms will follow.
