McKeown’s restaurant in Seaside is almost doubling its 2,000 sq. ft. dining area.
In August restaurant owners Dennis and Nancy McKeown leased 1,800 sq. ft. of corner commercial space adjacent to their restaurant at 714 Broadway.
"We plan to open the new, added dining space on Sept. 1," Nancy McKeown said.
"We aren’t making any major changes in the space," Dennis McKeown said. "Mainly we are redoing the plumbing and electrical. We estimate the remodel will cost about $25,000."
The new corner location will become the restaurant’s main entrance. An interior doorway will connect the new and existing restaurant rooms.
The additional space will bring the restaurant’s total seating dining capacity to 180 seats, Nancy McKeown said.
The primary reason the McKeowns leased the space is its location on the corner of Broadway and Holladay Drives.
"We have wanted that space for our restaurant since we moved to the Gilbert Block in 2004," Nancy McKeown said.
The Gilbert District is a re-developed section of Broadway between the Necanicum River and Roosevelt (Highway 101).
The current economic situation doesn’t scare them.
"People will still eat out," Dennis McKeown said.
