Expansion is underway at Cannon Beach Surf. Owner Mark Mekenas has been planning the project for most of this year.
"We finally got our building permit," he said. "We start construction Sept. 2.
The project will add an extension to the surf shop on S. Hemlock that will allow the business to add inventory and office space.
"We will be able to move the office here and out of the house," Mekenas said.
He said Coaster Construction of Cannon Beach will be the contractor for the job. Portland architect Rich Walton did the design.
"We expect to be finished in three months," Mekenas said. "It’s a much needed addition."
