Pacific County business owners take note: The Pacific County Economic Development Council has moved to a new office.
Cathy Russ is PCEDC director. She said the group had no choice but to move after the December 2007 storm.
"The building we were in received substantial roof damage," she said. "It was pouring rain in our office."
By necessity, the organization staged a quick move to a spare office in the Pacific County Commissioners’ building.
"We were fortunate to find a temporary space," she said. "They allowed us to use their office for five months."
Now PCEDC has moved to new permanent digs in Raymond, about five blocks from their previous location.
Russ said the new space is about half the size of their old office, but with just two employees it’s working out fine. They had used the previous larger office as an incubator for small businesses that were just starting out, to give them a leg up. Those businesses also had to relocate elsewhere after the storm
She said the new office is a good fit and more accessible.
"We’re closer to the highway," she said. "We’re in a good location with a greater presence."
Russ said she and coworker Karen Tully, who is PCEDC’s business liaison, greatly appreciated help from the community to move furniture and get settled in their new space.
The new PCEDC location is at 530 Commercial St. in Raymond.
