The ball keeps rolling for Clatsop Community College’s (CCC) Jerome Campus Redevelopment Project (JCRP). Just days after the Joint Interim Committee on Ways and Means voted to move Senate Bill 5555 to the floor of the legislature for a vote, it was passed by both Houses on Friday, Feb. 22. The bill includes $4 million for the college’s JCRP.
Rosemary Baker-Monaghan, CCC board chair, expressed excitement about the outcome.
"This is great news," she said. "It means we are much more likely to be able to complete phases 1 and 2 of our long-term master plan and save $10 million by doing them together."
The state originally allocated $7.5 million toward CCC’s capital construction needs in 2005. The college matched that amount, bringing its initial capital construction funding pool of resources to $15 million.
Now, although the bill must be signed before it becomes law, the legislative approval brings the college $4 million closer to attaining its $25 million JCRP goal.
