Astoria’s Café Uniontown closes after 15 years

Volume 2: Issue 11 - 11/01/2007

By CRBJ

It’s the end of an era in Astoria’s Uniontown district, under the Astoria Megler Bridge: the Café Uniontown closed its doors last month.

Owners Jim and Regina Wilkins said they plan to fix up the building and sell it.

"We’re just tired of it," Regina said. "We closed Oct. 1. Things change."

The restaurant and bar had operated for 15 years. Wilkins said a planned deal to sell the property fell through, so the couple decided to close down the restaurant.

The historic building, located at 218 W. Marine Drive, was constructed in the early 1900s.
