TLC Federal Credit Union held a groundbreaking last month for their brand new headquarters in Tillamook.

When the new building is finished next year, the organization will move from their old main office at 5th and Pacific, about a mile away, to a new building at 1510 Third St.

IT Manager Cate Mayer said it was high time for a move.

"We have basically run out of room," she said. "We’re down to having people in cubby holes."

The current TLC headquarters houses all the financial institution’s administrative departments, including accounting, IT, and collections.

The new building will encompass about 24,000 square feet, a significant expansion. The new facility includes about 3,000 sq. ft. of space that will be leased to tenants.

Mayer said the new building will have three floors. The top two will house the credit union’s administrative offices. The ground floor will serve customers.

"It’ll be an improved facility for our members too," Mayer said.

The new building will feature three drive-up lanes, as well as drive-up and walk-up ATMs, along with improved parking.

The groundbreaking marks half a century for TLC.

"This facility is symbolic of our growth over the past 50 years," said TLC CEO Mike Pierce in a credit union press release. "What better way to celebrate 50 years of service and community commitment than with a new and larger facility that will better serve our membership."

The new building is slated to open for business in winter 2008.

TLC Credit Union also has branches in Astoria, Seaside, Lincoln City and Newport.
