In opening All the Tea & China, LLC, in Ilwaco, Deanna Partlow hopes to pass on the same values she learned during her 17 years as public relations director for St. Martin’s College, in Lacey, Wash. that is operated by the Benedictine Monks.

"I’m trying to create the same welcoming atmosphere the Benedictine Monks foster while offering a wide variety of seasonal teas," Partlow explained of her new business.

In addition to selling tea, she serves lunch daily except Sundays, and offers a variety of breads and scones.

All the Tea & China provides about three dozen varieties of teas from all over the world and some of the selection will change with the seasons. Traditionally China, Sri Lanka, and India have been primary tea producers, but Partlow also serves a red tea, called Rooibos, very high in antioxidants, from South Africa.

In addition to teas, scones and breads, lunches, and a soothing ambience, Partlow’s business features a gift shop that has teas and "tea things" for sale. Her gift shop has china and children’s toys including tea sets, teddy bears, and frilly hats, "mostly things for little girls" Partlow relates. Deanna also will host parties by arrangement such as the Boston and (Jane) Austen Tea Party that will occur Dec. 16.

Hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday’s. The shop is located at 115 Second Ave.
