Cannon Beach Library to Honor Volunteers

Volume 1: Issue 2 - 04/01/2006

By CRBJ

The Cannon Beach Library Club invites members of the community to join in honoring the library’s sixty-some volunteers on Wednesday April 5, at 1p.m., in the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce meeting room at 207 N Spruce Street.

The guest speaker for this Library Club event is David Robinson, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church. “It’s a Wonderful Life: a ‘George Bailey’ Look at Changing the World” is his topic. Coffee, tea, and cookies will be served.

“Without volunteers, this Library simply would not be,” said Dick Frank, the Library’s part time manager.

A press release indicated that in 2005, over sixty men and women donated more than 3,600 hours to the independent community library, allowing the Library to be open six days a week, 52 weeks of the year. The year 2005 saw a nearly 20 percent increase in the number of volunteer hours as compared to 2004.

“This growth shows that volunteering at the Library is a great way to be involved in the community,” said Joanne Hill, president of the Library Club.
